JOBPLOY Real Employment Interview

Q1. What made you decide to seek employment in Korea?

I thought Korea is a country with continuously developing technology and global competitiveness. I decided to seek employment in Korea, believing that working in such an environment, learning technology, and growing would allow me to build a better career.

Q2. What are you studying (major/school) in Korea?

I completed my master's degree in Applied Life Science at Gyeongsang National University and graduated in August 2025.

I had various experiences while living at the university and in the lab, and I spent enjoyable and meaningful time.

Q3. What was the most difficult part of preparing for employment in Korea?

I was used to American recruitment platforms, so the Korean recruitment system was very unfamiliar at first.

Most of the job information was provided in Korean, which made it difficult to read and understand the content, and it took time to adapt to Korea's recruitment culture.

Q4. How did you first learn about JOBPLOY?

While preparing for employment in Korea, I found out about JOBPLOY while looking for foreign recruitment platforms.

It was easy to understand the job information because it was available in English, and I could use it conveniently.

Q5. What kind of help did you receive while using JOBPLOY?

It would have been very difficult if I had prepared for employment alone.

The JOBPLOY recruitment manager helped me with my resume and application form and recommended various job openings that suited me.

In particular, when providing job information, it was good that they didn't just deliver it but also consulted with me on whether "this company would be a good fit for me, and if I was interested."

Q6. What was your reason for applying to your current company?

Although it's a different field from my major, I've always been interested in learning technology.

I was very attracted to the idea of gaining hands-on experience at the company, learning technology, and developing expertise in the long term, so I applied.

Q7. How was the interview process?

I had an interview with three people: the CEO, the HR manager, and a field worker.

The interview atmosphere was very comfortable, and they made me feel at ease so I could speak without pressure.

The most memorable questions were "Why did you choose our company?" and "Do you plan to live in Korea long-term?"

I told them that I want to continuously grow by learning technology and that I plan to live in Korea long-term.

Q8. What was the most impressive aspect of Korean workplace culture?

All the bosses I met while working part-time in Korea were good people.

They generously provided chicken, bread, snacks, and drinks during breaks and treated foreign employees like family.

At first, I was worried about Korean company culture, but in reality, they showed a lot of interest and consideration to help foreign workers adapt well, which left me with good memories.

Q9. What do you think was the most important preparation during your job search period?

Above all, I think studying Korean was the most important.

If you work in Korea, smooth communication with colleagues is very important, so I consistently studied Korean.

Although there are still areas where I need improvement, I plan to continue my efforts.

Q10. What advice would you give to foreigners preparing for employment in Korea?

I hope you don't give up.

There are many difficulties at first, but I believe that if you keep challenging yourself, good opportunities will surely come.

Q11. What would you like to say to foreign international students who are preparing for employment in Korea?

While studying in Korea, I hope you not only focus on your major but also consistently learn Korean.

As your Korean language skills improve, you will have more job opportunities and it will be a great help in your company life.

I believe that if you challenge yourself to the end, even if it's difficult at first, you can achieve your desired goals.

Q12. Please feel free to say anything you want to JOBPLOY.

I would like to thank recruitment manager Yeori for her great help throughout the entire employment process.

She always provided kind consultations and quickly answered my inquiries, which was a great source of strength during my job preparation.

Q13. Do you have any future goals or plans?

I will start work on July 6th.

My biggest goal is to receive a good evaluation during the internship period and obtain an E-7 visa.

After that, I want to invite my spouse in Kenya to Korea and build a stable life together in Korea long-term.

Concluding the interview

He, who came to Korea to study from Kenya, achieved his goal of employment in Korea through persistent challenges and consistent Korean language study.

I hope this interview will give a small amount of courage and hope to many foreign international students preparing for employment in Korea.
Now that he has started his internship, we will continue to support his story of receiving a good evaluation, obtaining an E-7 visa, and creating a new future in Korea.

If he successfully completes his internship and obtains an E-7 visa, we will share his story again through another interview.
