Hongcheongang Quinoa Farming Association is an agricultural company located in Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon-do, led by CEO Kim Mi-jeong. Established in 2014, the company is engaged in the business of eco-friendly cultivation, processing, and distribution of various grains, including quinoa. This farming association has succeeded in mass-producing quinoa domestically, contributing to the increase of local farm income.

"Hongcheongang Quinoa Farming Association was established in 2014 based on CEO Kim Mi-jeong's successful domestic cultivation of quinoa in Hongcheon since 2010. Through the 'Welpoom' brand, we are diversifying the cultivation and sales of eco-friendly agricultural products, and completed certifications for pesticide-free cultivation in 2017 and organic agricultural products in 2022. Currently, 73 farms within Hongcheon-gun participate as members, producing and distributing various high-quality agricultural products besides quinoa, generating annual sales of over 5 billion won."

Business Areas

• Grain cultivation and production: We eco-friendly cultivate various grains and agricultural products, including our main crop quinoa, as well as sticky rice, chili peppers, corn, black millet, potatoes, goji berries, and pumpkins. In particular, we have succeeded in mass-cultivating quinoa domestically, establishing ourselves as the only company capable of mass production in Korea.
• Agricultural product processing and distribution: We provide post-harvest services such as drying and sorting cultivated agricultural products, and distribute processed goods such as quinoa, wild garlic jangajji, sweet pumpkin malrangi, and boiled siraegi under the Welpoom brand. We supply quinoa to about 70 schools nationwide and sell through various online and offline channels such as Coupang and live commerce.
• Agricultural management innovation and R&D: We maximize synergy in each area of agricultural management through division of labor, specialization, and collaboration with association members, universities, and agricultural research institutions. We are working to improve quality by conducting research and development on quinoa component analysis and processed foods with the Department of Food and Nutrition at Kyung Hee University.

Products

• Domestic Quinoa (Welpoom Quinoa): 100% domestic quinoa cultivated eco-friendly (pesticide-free, organic) in Hongcheon. Known as a superfood called the 'mother of grains,' its nutritional components have been analyzed to be superior to imported varieties, and it can be used in various dishes such as rice, porridge, and salads.
• Welpoom Wild Garlic Jangajji: Jangajji made with wild garlic produced in clean Hongcheon, Gangwon-do. It is one of the main processed food products of the Welpoom brand and is popular among consumers.
• Welpoom Sweet Pumpkin Malrangi and Boiled Siraegi: We sell malrangi made by removing seeds and slicing organically grown sweet pumpkins and drying them, as well as siraegi made by boiling fresh radish greens. These are healthy processed agricultural products that can be enjoyed conveniently.

• Exclusive technology in domestic quinoa cultivation and production: Having started domestic quinoa cultivation in 2010, we have successfully laid the foundation for mass production and possess the unique technology and know-how in Korea to mass-produce quinoa. Through this, we have led the localization of quinoa, which was previously dependent on imports.
• Eco-friendly organic certification and high-quality agricultural products: We adhere to eco-friendly farming methods, having obtained certifications for pesticide-free cultivation in 2017 and organic agricultural products in 2022. We produce high-quality agricultural products through strict quality control, such as washing with deep groundwater from 150m below ground and using sun-drying methods.
• Management innovation and external recognition: We received the Grand Prize at the 2022 Agricultural Industry Management Innovation Case Competition (in the category of agricultural product quality improvement and distribution/sales management) and CEO Kim Mi-jeong received the Prime Minister's Commendation at the 2024 Government Awards for Quality in Food and Agriculture, demonstrating external recognition of our management performance and quality.
